CAO BẰNG PROVINCE, NORTH OF VIETNAM

New indigo clothes from Vietnam have arrived!

Our friend Vu Thao from Kilomet 109 in Hanoi manufactured a blazer, jacket and a shirt for us.

She works with Nùng women in the Cao Bằng province, North of Vietnam.
They produce their own cotton and indigo, do the weaving and dying, following traditional methods.
After the dye bath the indigo fabric has a greenish color.
It is after the exposure to sun and air that the fabric  acquires its authentic blue color.

Once the fabric is finished our garments are tailored in Thao`s own workshop in Hanoi.

BRAGA, PORTUGAL

While being on production trip I visited the factory that makes the socks we sell at the store, pedemeia.
I was really happy they offered me a tour through the factory.
It was amazing to see all the colorful yarn stock, the stock steamer and knitting machines spitting out finished socks.
While there I selected several new colors for the store.

ABEBA, ETHIOPIA

The Muja Ethiopia workshop - very intriguing weaving and pottery.

It was fun to think of some scarf patterns to be woven there - hope to have samples soon.

MONGOLIA

For the first time, i saw cashmere goats and yaks after selling and wearing many beautiful yak scarves.

The
trip ended with a visit to a knitting workshop that produces fair trade
ecological knitwear from undyed wool of yak , cashmere and camel wool .

Eventhough
i didn`t get to see any camels on this trip, i am getting ready to make
some designs for a few camel wool sweaters for next winter.

PORTUGAL

This is the cutting room of the jacket factory in Portugal.

I love that something so perfectly made, like the Teak jacket, comes from a place that looks so chaotic on the surface.
